Splice
Often sufficient space is not available to
get a fully assemble staircase in place. Space limitations often
happen in doorways, hallways and elevators. One solution to
such limitations is to “splice" a staircase. Simply,
the stair is fully manufactured and assembled and then a splice
is created to reduce the height of the staircase to fit through
the obstacle. The stair is then carted in and re-assembled at
the job site. A local welder would then make the necessary weld
seems to secure the stair.
Splicing is also used extensively when it is necessary to
weld several complete staircases to get the required height. |
